A.R. Murugadoss is one of the leading directors of the Tamil film Industry who is known for his commercial entertainers that often have a social message. The director made his debut as a director with the Ajith starrer Dheena and did many promising films including Ramana, Gajini, Thuppakki, Kathi, Spyder, Sarkar and his recent film was Darbar with Rajinikanth as the lead. Apart from Tamil, he has also directed movies in Telugu and Hindi.

A.R. Murugadoss has also produced many films directed by his Assistant directors and his recent venture as a producer was 16 August 1947 which is to be released in theatres this weekend. Ahead of the release, the director gave an exclusive interview with National award-winning critic Baradwaj Rangan, the editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus. Recently Sivakarthikeyan revealed at an event a film with A.R. Murugadoss is in the works. As the interviewer asked if he are doing a film with the actor, the director said: “yes, discussions are going on”.
As Baradwaj Rangan went on to question if you are doing a film with Sivakarthikeyan, would you make a story for the hero or choose hero for the story? A.R. Murugadoss replied “Normally there will be two to three outlines. If you think about It, I did not do Thuppakki for Vijay sir. It was out and out new for him and it was the reason. I did it for a hero before, it got developed, then I narrated the story to Akshay Kumar and got approval and blocked his dates. But as it got delayed, I got permission and did the movie here." “You are talking about Holiday movie” said the host “Yes. I do not consider the hero image while doing the story sometimes it’s like that. But, sometimes, When you think we can do the film in this combination I would have done a story outline before that for Shah Rukh Khan and body language of some heroes will suit others too.
