The pre-release event of Vaathi's Telugu version Sir was conducted in front of a large Telugu-speaking audience on Wednesday evening, February 15, in Hyderabad, Telangana. Dhanush, Samyuktha, Samuthirakani, and the film's team attended the grand event, which also saw music composer Thaman and filmmaker Trivikram grace the occasion as special guests. Many details regarding the film were revealed by director Venky Atluri during the event, where Dhanush in speech spoke in Telugu quite well. He said, "I am a Tamil actor and I only speak my language well. I'm not a fluent Telugu speaker. But, I'll speak in what little Telugu I do know. Please forgive me if I make any mistakes. In 2002, my debut movie was released. For my first Telugu film, Sir, I have the same nervousness. Any language film I work on gives me the same emotions. Every movie is like my very first one. Sir is also like my first film."
Dhanush further stated, "Sir is a simple movie with intense emotions. It will all seem quite easy in the movie. I didn't make much effort but rather acted naturally. The film has a fairly simple plot but delivers a very powerful message. The film will be released on February 17th. I'm experiencing both happiness and nervousness. Producer Vamsi and Venki's confidence in the film makes me even more nervous. On one side, I may be self-assured, but on the other, I'm nervous. I am confident that I acted in a very respectful film. I'm hoping you too have the same confidence. This is your story. This film is for you. I thank Venki for giving us such a film."
Following this, when fans requested Dhanush to sing a song, he obliged and sang the Telugu version of Vaa Vaathi, which was received with whistles and loud applause from the crowd gathered at the Sir pre-release event. The movie's theme mostly revolves around education, and Dhanush plays the role of a teacher in it. The cast of Vaathi also includes Samyuktha as the female lead, while Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar, Aadukalam Naren, Ilavarasu, Ken Karunas, and Motta Rajendran among others are appearing in major supporting roles.
