Two-time National Award-winning actor Dhanush has a promising film lineup ahead among which also includes the much-awaited Maaran and is being directed by Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru and Mafia fame Karthick Naren. G. V. Prakash Kumar, who is churning out the music took to social media on Saturday, to drop an update that the upcoming film's background score has begun, while also revealing that it will be action-packed. The hit composer, whose previous association with Dhanush, the 2019 blockbuster Asuran featured chart-buster songs and a thunderous background score, had informed fans back in November that there will be a total of four tracks, including a theme song in Maaran. GV Prakash tweeted, "Maaran update …. BGScore starts today … will be an action packed score …." Below is the tweet: 

Billed to be a new-gen investigative thriller, Maaran is the fourth-time GV Prakash is collaborating with Dhanush after their previous blockbusters like Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Mayakkam Enna and Asuran. Expectations are huge for the film, which is currently in its final stages of production, with the first look poster featuring Dhanush holding a pen while pushing another person's head down on a glass table receiving staggering feedback on social media. 

Maaran will see Dhanush paired opposite Master heroine Malavika Mohanan, with the film's supporting cast featuring names like Samuthirakani, Smruthi Venkat, Soorarai Pottru fame Krishnakumar and Master Mahendran, who has reportedly been cast as a negative character. The film is being produced by the prestigious Sathya Jyothi Movies banner and is the third time they are bankrolling a Dhanush venture after Thodari (2016) and Pattas (2020). Maaran's screenplay has been written by the Sharfu-Suhas duo, with lyricist Vivek also turning screenwriter and dialogue writer for the first time with the film. The technical team consists of names like cinematographer Vivekanand Santhosham, editor Prasanna GK and art director A Amaran.
