Earlier today (May 3), a section of media had reported that Superstar Rajinikanth would be doing one more film for Sun Pictures after Annaatthe, marking his fourth collaboration with the production company after Enthiran, Petta, and Annaatthe. Tentatively called #Thalaivar169, rumours speculated that directors Karthik Subbaraj and Desingh Periyasamy (Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal fame) were the frontrunners to helm this project. The news went viral on social media and it excited the fans. Karthik Subbaraj has already delivered a blockbuster hit with Rajinikanth in the form of Petta and it would be exciting to see the successful combo again.

On the other hand, Desingh Periyasamy is an ardent fan of Rajinikanth and we have seen him talk about the legendary actor in his interviews. With that being said, the fans were eager to see another fan boy directing his favourite idol, on the lines of Karthik Subbaraj. However, it looks like the news is not true. Director Desingh Periyasamy took to his official Twitter page to clarify that the news is not true and he assured that he will share an update about his next, very soon. Desingh Periyasamy's official clarification tweet read, "The News which is spreading about my next film is not true. Will update u soon...Thanks for the love and support.Stay Safe and Take Care".

This immediate clarification from Desingh Periyasamy will now put an end to the speculations. Desingh made a striking debut in Tamil cinema with the Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, which was a sensational blockbuster at the box office. The film took the Tamil audience by surprise with its fresh and highly engaging screenplay and it also made Desingh a promising talent in Kollywood. Earlier rumours suggested that Desingh's next directorial venture will be with Sivakarthikeyan, but it looks like we will have to wait for a few more weeks for better clarity.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is currently in Hyderabad, shooting for his next film, Annaatthe, directed by Siva. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film features Khushbu Sundar, Meena, Keerthy Suresh, and Nayanthara as the female leads.
