Delhi-6 grosses 4.80 crores on first day
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's dream project Delhi-6 has been one of the most-anticipated flicks of recent times. With the music topping the chart-busters' list and Sonam Kapoor's immaculate beauty rivalling her pet pigeon Masakali's fame, Delhi-6 appeared to be yet another refreshing, 'desi' work from the director of Rang De Basanti and Aks. But the Thursday night premiere triggered off mixed reviews and that had a slight impact on the film's opening day collection at the box office. The movie also faced a bit of a commotion with the rift between the Producers' Council and the multiplex owners.
However, innovative promos and an extraordinary star cast have saved the film's fate at the box office. Delhi-6 is reported to have grossed a whopping Rs. 4.80 crores on the opening day. Reports say that the film saw a below-average response in Mumbai and suburbs, but did well in other places, especially in and around Delhi. Sources also say that UTV Motion Pictures have grossed Rs. 17-18 crores in the domestic market with Sunday seeing good box office numbers. We have to wait till next week to know the audience's verdict on this film and itssuccess at the box office.
