Delhi 6: Abhishek's dream team
Charming mischief-boy Abhishek. Breezy, twinkle-eyed Sonam. Grand-dame Waheeda Rahman. Rich neighbour Rishi Kapoor. Delhi 6 is an artistic amalgamation of the old and the new; lively, grand old people and smart, chic youngsters. It is Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra's celluloid ode to the stunning, ancient, history-smudged city of Delhi with its bustling lanes, crowded streets and bubbly people.
Delhi 6 is clearly the next most-anticipated flick in Bollywood. It has already managed to create a feel-good sweetness in the minds of expectant Bollywood fans, thanks to Sonam Kapoor, her freedom-loving pigeon Masakali and the music maestro who let it fly so high.
With just a week for the movie to hit screens, Abhishek Bachchan shared his experience about the movie in a television interview recently.
Cool, nonchalant and low-keyed as usual, Abhi is all praise for Delhi 6. His eyesdazzle with hope and pride as he relives his experiences with director Rakeysh and the team. “I worked with a dream team of actors,” brightens Abhi with a smile. “Being a diehard Rishi Kapoor fan, I have always wanted to work with him. Delhi 6 gave me the opportunity.”
Commenting on Sonam Kapoor, he says “she is indeed the tallest actress I have worked with. Delightful and fun to be with, it has been an enjoyable experience working with her.” On the Masakali song and Sonam spitting on him, “I never knew that she was going to spit on me. Rakeysh and the crew had planned it. Only when I sensed water on me, I knew the whole thing and saw Rakeysh crackling down. Sonam indeed took her revenge on me by going for more takes for the shot,” chuckled the actor.
On the movie's music and A.R. Rahman's work, “Rahman has always been lucky for me. First it was Yuva, then Guru and now, Delhi 6. We wish and hope that he wins theOscar Award.”
When asked whether he had Friday blues or jitters on the movie's release date, “I have no jitters. Anxiety, yes. It is the audience who decide the fate of films. All we can do is make the journey memorable. This film is indeed a memorable one for me. I'm extremely proud of it,” beams the actor with confidence. That's the spirit, man! We hope and wish Delhi 6 rocks at the box office and makes Abhi and his team proud!
