Actress Danika McGuigan, a popular name in the Irish film industry, went on to become a known name in Hollywood after starring in the Irish comedy-drama television series, Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope. The 33-year old popular star passed away on July 23 due to cancer-related complications with condolences pouring in from all corners. Nika, as she was called by people close to her, was the daughter of former boxing champion Barry McGuigan, and also had starring roles in The Secret Scripture and Wildfire to name a few. An official statement was released by the family, which is as follows: “It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beautiful daughter and sister, Danika ‘Nika’ McGuigan. After a brief but brave battle against cancer, Nika passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday 23rd July, surrounded by her loving family. As a family we are devastated and ask for complete privacy during this difficult period to allow us to grieve for our Nika,”.

Danika McGuigan’s family has been left devastated with the news of her death with her brother and boxing coach, Shane McGuigan, taking to his Instagram page to pen an emotional note about her. In his statement, Danika McGuigan’s brother has stated that she had overcome the battle against cancer earlier when she was 11 to 13 by putting up a fight for 2 years .
