Copyright Amendment Bill 2010: Delhi dharna on January 6
To mark its protest against the proposed Copyright Amendment Bill 2010 that orders producers to share 50% music royalty with lyricists and composers, the entire Indian film industry will stage a dharna at Delhi on January 6, Bollywood producer Mukesh Bhatt told reporters on Wednesday in Chennai.
"This is an anti-entertainment government. The producers were not even consulted by the government. If the Centre did not budge after the January 6 agitation, which would be an 'eye-opener' to the government, the industry bodies would decide on further course of action," he said, adding that there would be no shows at theatres all over India on January 6.
Producer Boney Kapoor said that the proposal was 'one-sided' and the film industries in the country were supporting the producers as "it would affect everybody". Film Federation of India President L. Suresh and Tamil Film Producers' president Ramanarayanan also spoke.
