The entire team of Ponniyin Selvan kickstarted their promotional tour across the country yesterday (September 20) and the first destination was Trivandrum, Kerala. The pre release event took place last night at Trivandrum on a grand note and the central cast of the film, Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Karthi, and Aishwarya Lekshmi, along with their boss, Mani Ratnam, participated in the event. During the event, Chiyaan Vikram stole the show by playing the Chenda musical instrument in an impromptu manner. His Chenda Melam performance has grabbed the attention of the fans and film buffs and the video has turned viral on social media.

This fun loving act from Chiyaan has won the hearts of the people and the netizens are abuzz about it. The team will be travelling to Hyderabad today (September 21), following which they will leave to cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, and more. Ponniyin Selvan is set for its grand theatrical release on September 30 and the film will have a pan Indian release in 5 different languages - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies, the film has music composed by A.R.Rahman who has delivered a chartbuster album consisting of songs of a diverse range.

Apart from the main leads, the film features an ensemble supporting cast that includes the likes of Parthiban, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Lal, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Rahman, Riyaz Khan, Arjun Chidambaram, Ashwin Kakumanu, Sarah Arjun, and others. The film has cinematography handled by Ravi Varman while the editing and art direction departments are headed by Sreekar Prasad and Thotta Tharani respectively.

Ponniyin Selvan has been made as a two part film and the second part will be out in theatres during May / June 2023. The screenplay of the film has been penned by Mani Ratnam, Elango Kumaravel, and Jeyamohan.
