'Chiyaan' Vikram's Cobra is being planned for a grand release on May 26, the film's director Ajay Gnanamuthu revealed on Saturday. When a fan queried the director saying all other films were being released and yet there was no update for the Vikram-starrer, Ajay stated that plans are already underway to bring Cobra to cinemas towards the end of May this year. The hit director, best known for his Demonte Colony and Imaikkaa Nodigal, has often kept fans updated about the film and his latest statement will no doubt come as big joyous news. Cobra has been a highly-anticipated film among fans, especially after its teaser and other promotional material showed Vikram in a different light and once again with various looks and get-ups. Fans will be looking forward to yet another sensational performance from the National Award-winning actor and we can expect him to once again excel in the upcoming film, which has him playing the role of a genius mathematician. Produced under Lalit Kumat's 7 Screen Studios banner, the film wrapped up production earlier this month and features music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman. So far, only one song, 'Thumbi Thullal', has been released, which received a stellar response from fans, who are also waiting for the rest of the tracks in the Cobra album. 

Vikram will be looking to hit the bullseye once again with Cobra after his performance alongside his son Dhruv Vikram in the recent release, Mahaan, garnered immense praise. Apart from Vikram in the lead role, Cobra has a talented ensemble star cast featuring the likes of KGF fame Srinidhi Shetty as the female lead, while former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan is playing an Interpol agent. Likewise, Super Deluxe actress Mirnalini Ravi, Anandaraj, KS Ravikumar, Mirnalini Ravi, Miya George, Roshan Mathew among others will be appearing in pivotal roles.
