It's official - National Award-winning Tamil actor Vikram's next big film, the tentatively titled Chiyaan 62, has been announced on Saturday, October 28, and will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker S. U. Arun Kumar featuring music by blockbuster composer G. V. Prakash Kumar. The upcoming project's development was first hinted at earlier in the day, with the big reveal of the director and music composer no doubt coming as a big delightful news for Tamil cinema fans. Vikram's Chiyaan 62 is already showing great promise as director S. U. Arun Kumar, best known for Pannaiyarum Padminiyum (2014), Sethupathi (2016), and Sindhubaadh (2019), recently tasted box office success with his Chithha starring Siddharth, which also garnered immense critical acclaim.
The Chiyaan 62 announcement has come in the form of a promo teaser giving audiences a glimpse at what they can expect once production is completed. With the principal photography revealed to commence soon, the announcement video of Vikram's next starts off showing scenes at a police station at Tiruttani in Thiruvallur district. We see a woman rushing into the station with her child and filing a complaint about how she was almost attacked before making an escape. A street band is also seen at the police station after being pulled up for questioning. The Chiyaan 62 announcement video then shows a couple of persons in a brutally beaten-up state breaking into the station, with Vikram making a fiery entry while continuing to bash them up.
The Chiyaan 62 teaser then shows Vikram walking away casually after fixing his slippers before being stopped by the cops. He then murmurs something into the ears of a police constable, who is left stunned and speechless. We once again see Vikram leaving the station when a senior police official shouts asking him who he is. The Chiyaan 62 announcement powered by National Award winner GV Prakash's background score ends with one of the lady police constables worrying over how to explain the reason for her table that gets broken in the ruckus. This one promo has given a big glimpse into the tone of the film and how it will revolve around a fearless and daring Vikram, whose character already looks to be a big treat for his fans everywhere.
Chiyaan 62 is Vikram's next big venture as he already has two grand films gearing up for a massive release starting with the highly-anticipated espionage thriller Dhruva Natchathiram directed by Gautham Menon, which is scheduled to open in cinemas worldwide on November 24. He also has in his lineup the much-awaited period action drama, Thangalaan, directed by Pa. Ranjith, which will open in cinemas as a grand Pongal 2024 release.
