American star Bob Saget died due to trauma he suffered on his head after he hit something accidentally, his family said in a statement on Wednesday. Best known for playing Danny Tanner on the hit sitcom Full House, the actor was found in an unconscious state on January 9 in a hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lake. He was 65. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office declared Saget dead at the scene. "Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities’ investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us," the late actor's family said. "They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it, and went to sleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved."
Elaborating their statement, the sheriff's office cited the comment of the medical examiner’s office, which stated that Saget's death was an accident. The actor, who was also a stand-up comedian and television host, had died due to blunt force trauma that happened most likely from a fall, Dr. Joshua Stephany, the chief medical examiner of Orange and Osceola counties, said on Thursday. Saget had been on tour prior to his unfortunate demise and performed at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., southeast of Jacksonville on January 8.
Bob Saget's family further said in their statement, "In the weeks since Bob’s passing, we have been overwhelmed with the incredible outpouring of love from Bob’s fans, which has been a great comfort to us and for which we are eternally grateful." They added, "As we continue to mourn together, we ask everyone to remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to this world, and the lessons he taught us all: to be kind to everyone, to let the people you love know you love them, and to face difficult times with hugs and laughter."
