Bharathiraja's long-delayed Meendum Oru Mariyathai releasing on February 21
Six-time National Award-winning director Bharathiraja has had an iconic filmmaking career ever since his entry in Tamil cinema four decades back. The celebrated filmmaker has given us several classic films like 16 Vayathinile, Kizhakke Pogum Rail, Sigappu Rojakkal, Alaigal Oyvathillai, Mudhal Mariyathai, Vedham Pudhithu, Kizhakku Cheemayile, Karuththamma to name a few with Bharathiraja since then making a transition to acting over the years.
Bharathiraja has left no stone unturned as an actor as well in his roles in films namely Aayutha Ezhuthu, Pandianadu, Kurangu Bommai, Kennedy Club, and was last seen in Siva Karthikeyan starrer Namma Veettu Pillai. Having been announced to be part of Simbu's upcoming biggie, Maanaadu, under Venkat Prabhu's direction, Bharathiraja will first be seen on the big screen in the upcoming film, Meendum Oru Mariyathai. Announced to hit theatres on February 21, the upcoming family drama film is incidentally is his return to direction after directing Annakodi in 2013 and features music by NR Raghu Nandan.
Initially announced as Om, the film being produced by Bharathiraja under his Manoj Creations banner went on to undergo a title change and was changed with Meendum Oru Mariyathai, which has Joe Mallori, Nakshatra and Mounika in major supporting roles. Bharathiraja's Meendum Oru Mariyathai will be going up at the box office against Prabhu Deva's action cop drama, Pon Manickavel and Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru director Karthick Naren's much-awaited, Mafia: Chapter 1, which has Arun Vijay, Prasanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead roles.
