Congratulations are in order for Tamil filmmaker R. Ravikumar, who has welcomed his second child; a baby boy. The hit director announced the big news on Friday morning, March 1, on social media along with a heartfelt statement and an adorable picture of his son holding his right index finger. Taking to Facebook, Ravikumar wrote in Tamil, "எங்களுக்கு ஆண்குழந்தை பிறந்திருக்கிறான். உங்கள் அன்பு வாழ்த்துக்களால் வளம் பெறுவான்🥰🙏🏼" (We have been blessed with a baby boy. He will flourish with your affectionate wishes).
Ravikumar married Priya Ganesan in 2016 and were blessed with a daughter, Narumugai. This latest development in the filmmaker's life has come at a time when he is already on cloud nine after the phenomenal response to his film, Ayalaan, which released as a grand Pongal treat in January. The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer also featuring music composed by Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman turned out to be a major box office success grossing 75+ crores in worldwide box office collections. With Ayalaan turning out to be a big commercial hit and Ravikumar now being blessed with a baby boy, the filmmaker will be looking for the year ahead to be just as joyous as has been so far.
During the press tour of Ayalaan, R. Ravikumar and Sivakarthikeyan announced that there are indeed plans for a sequel to their hit film, which will begin after they complete the projects each of them are committed to at present. Ravikumar had revealed that he and Suriya are planning to do a science-fiction film after which he will begin working on Ayalaan 2. On the other hand, Sivakarthikeyan, who is filming Amaran under Rajkumar Periasamy's direction, will next be joining hands with blockbuster filmmaker AR Murugadoss for the tentatively titled SK 23, who is making a comeback after Darbar (2020) with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth. There were also plans for Sivakarthikeyan and hit director Venkat Prabhu to come together for a venture and an official word is awaited in that regard.
