The name Gautham Vasudev Menon evokes different memories for different people but one that would be constant for everybody would be the beautiful and warm feeling of love and romance. There's something magical about the songs in Gautham Menon's movies which tug at our heartstrings and make us reminisce of some wonderful memory from our own lives. Gautham Menon debuted as a director with Madhavan and Reemma Sen's Minnale and became an instant youth favourite. He has continued maintaining that tag, till his most recent release Enai Noki Paayum Thota and even with his recent lockdown independent song video Oru Chance Kudu. It is twenty years since GVM became a director and he has already made seventeen movies in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi; not to mention the recently released web-series Queen. Gautham Menon still has a handful of projects in the pipeline. He needs to complete his spy-thriller Dhruva Natchathiram which features Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role. Then he has the second season of Queen which is making for MX Player featuring Ramya Krishnan. Queen is fictional adaptation from former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalitha’s life. Gautham Menon is also talks to do a couple of other movies, one of which would feature Simbu in the lead role. He is also directing one portion of an anthology produced by Netflix.

According to reports, directors Vetrimaaran, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Vignesh Shivan, and Sudha Kongara are coming together for this project produced by Netflix. It was earlier speculated that Ashwin Kakumanu will play the lead in Gautham Menon’s episode which would have Darbuka Siva’s music. Vignesh Shivn’s segment would star Anjali and Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin. Shoot for this portion has already been completed. Sudha Kongara’s film will apparently have Kalidas Jayaram, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and GV Prakash’s younger sister Bhavani Sre in the lead roles. The segment has music composed by Justin Prabhakaran. In Vetrimaaran’s film, Sai Pallavi and Prakash Raj play the lead roles. Now Ashwin Kakumanu has cleared the air that he is not part of Gautham Menon’s anthology. His tweet reads as follows - “Wanted to say that while I look forward to the opportunity of working with @menongautham again, I am not part of his anthology for @NetflixIndia. I think it was confused with my role in the Telugu anthology for #Netflix. Hope this clarifies things.” It must be noted that Ashwin Kakumanu had earlier worked with Gautham Menon in Nadunisi Naaygal.
