Andor is an upcoming television series created by Tony Gilroy for the over the top streaming service Disney+ Hotstar. The new series will follow the story of the escalating rebellion against the Empire and how individuals and worlds got involved. thief-turned-Rebel spy Cassian Andor will set out on the route that will transform him into a rebel hero during this period of risk, trickery, and intrigue. In Andor, the timeline would be set five years ahead of the events in Rogue One. It serves as a prequel to the Star Wars spin-off film Rogue One which was released back in 2016 going on to gross more than $1 billion at the box office.
The official trailer of Andor has been released and as with every other film/series of the Star Wars franchise, it looks incredibly amazing. Cassian Andor, the underdog rebel warrior from Luna, gets a lot of screen time in this new trailer. The Andor trailer shows us how Cassian Andor is recruited into the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. The trailer also substantiates rumours that uncredited Forest Whitaker, who played resistance fighter Saw Gerrera in Rogue One, will return.
According to the description, the show is “a unique perspective from the Star Wars galaxy” and centres on Cassian Andor’s quest to realise his potential for change. Diego Luna executive produces and reprises his Rogue One role as Cassian Andor. Genevieve O'Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Fiona Shaw also star in this.
The first 12-episode season of Andor will premiere on Disney+ on September 21, 2022, with its first three episodes, while the rest of the episodes will release weekly until November 23. A second 12-episode season is in development, which will conclude the series and lead into the events of Rogue One.
