Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan will be next seen in the epic science fiction film Kalki 2898-AD being directed by Mahanati fame Nag Ashwin. The film has the iconic Hindi cinema superstar appearing alongside Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, and Pasupathy, among others, with an intense and action-packed glimpse being released recently at San Diego Comic-Con 2023. Initially titled Project K, Amitabh Bachchan participated in the Kalki 2898-AD SDCC panel at Hall H via a video call and interacted with the film's director Nag Ashwin and actors Prabhas and Kamal Haasan.
With the Kalki 2898-AD glimpse receiving a thunderous response at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Amitabh Bachchan has now for the first time revealed why he wasn't part of the film's panel at the popular entertainment event. Taking to his blog on Tumblr, the actor explained that director Nag Ashwin had urged him to join along, but he had to opt out due to work and medical restrictions. Amitabh Bachchan wrote, "Alright .. so .. San Diego and K , the project .. a great moment for the film and the makers and all those that went there for the release of the first look for it .. I was pushed hard by Nagi Sir to come along, but work and medical restrictions have kept me away from many such occasions .. so .. but I must admit the first look was pretty darn good .. wasn’t it .. style, music, frames .. everything .. (sic)"
Amitabh Bachchan also opened up on the title reveal and the glimpse of Project K and wrote, ".. and finally the reveal of K .. KALKI .. mythologically so important .. 2898 AD !! ‘AD’ has been changed has it not .. ? yes .. AD , which i think was ‘anno domini’ , meaning ‘in the year of the Lord’.. was changed to CE - common era .. and BC, became BCE - before common era ! Why so .. have no idea .. it was related to the birth of Christ , before and after . hence .. but , each region in the World has its own year and month and named according to their calculated calendars .. (sic)"
Produced under the prestigious Vyjayanthi Movies banner, Kalki 2898-AD featuring music by Tamil composer Santhosh Narayanan will be coming out as a grand pan-Indian release in several languages and is scheduled to be launched in cinemas worldwide on January 12, 2024.
