The Tamil action thriller, Kaithi, which came out as a Diwali release last year, turned out to be the biggest hit in actor Karthi’s career till date. Produced jointly by Dream Warrior Pictures and Vivekananda Pictures banners, Lokesh Kanagaraj of Maanagaram and the upcoming 'Thalapathy' Vijay starrer, Master, had directed Kaithi, with the film receiving a double thumbs up from fans and critics alike.

Kaithi saw Karthi deliver a thunderous performance with talks about the film being remade in several other languages also doing the rounds for a while. Ever since the news of a Kaithi remake cropped up, reports had come out stating the film would also be remade in Hindi and with National Award-winning actor and Bollywood superstar, Ajay Devgn, in the lead role.

Having said that, Dream Warrior Pictures has now officially announced on their social networking pages that the Kaithi Hindi remake is indeed a go and will see Ajay Devgn portraying the role of Karthi with the film scheduled for a February 12, 2021 worldwide theatrical release. As of now, the director and rest of the cast and crew have not been announced, but the film will be a joint production between Dream Warrior Pictures, Reliance Entertainment and Ajay Devgn FFilms banners. Kaithi had Karthi playing the role of an ex-convict going back to see his daughter for the first time after being released, but eventually gets dragged into a war between the police and drug peddlers and, a group of college students trapped inside a police station. The Tamil version had no songs, but a tight plot and a screenplay written by director Lokesh Kanagaraj and screenwriter Pon Parthiban left audiences sitting on the edge of their seats with composer Sam C. S.'s thunderous background score receiving a huge response after which the makers later officially released the film's OST.

Kaithi also released in Telugu as Khaidi had in its supporting cast names like Arjun Das playing the prime antagonist, Harish Uthaman, Vijay TV fame Dheena, Mariam George, Deepthi, Ramana, Hareesh Peradi, Malavika Avinash, Chetan among others in crucial roles along with Sathya N Sooryan for the cinematography and Philomin Raj taking care of the editing.
