Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is one of the most anticipated releases of the year that is set to hit the theatres on April 28. The film is called the Magnum Opus by the iconic director Mani Ratnam. It is produced by Lyca production with Madras Talkies and has a huge star cast of Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Prabhu, R Sarath Kumar, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and Radhakrishnan Parthiban. The grand audio and trailer launch of the film took place on March 29 in Chennai. The movie also has music composed by A.R Rahman and is also strong on the technical side with cinematography by Ravi Varman, set design by Thotta Tharani and editing by Sreekar Prasad. The first part of film was released last year and was a blockbuster.
The actress Sobhita Dhulipala who plays the role of Vanathi in Ponniyin Selvan's film gave an interesting interview to Galatta Media. The actress shared about her experience of bringing the character to life in the interview. The anchor posted the question about what she thinks about talks that Vanathi's character only has little scope in the film. The actress replied ”I feel like it's already so complicated to condense five books into film. So, I feel like, sometimes, some character is like the opportunity cost. But I think it's also important for me not to be self-centred and appreciate the film. So, I don't want to be like (I didn’t get a bigger role), that's not right. I respect his (director Mani Ratnam's) vision and his choices." The actress said she like the character and is that the film received a good response from the film and that people liked the film. ‘
Sobhita Dhulipala made her debut with the Hindi film Raman Raghav 2.0 directed by Anurag Kashyap in 2016. The actress then went on to do films in Telugu, Malayalam, etc. Her recent hit was Kurup and Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2 was the Tamil debut of the actress. Watch full interview here:
