Ramesh Khanna is a popular actor who has acted in many hit films with leading actors including 'Superstar' Rajinikanth, 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan, 'Thalapathy' Vijay and Ajith Kumar. He has also directed actor Ajith Kumar in his debut film Thodarum. In a recent interview with Galatta Media, The actor shared some exciting details about how he convinced Ajith Kumar in doing the film and an interesting incident in the shooting spot. When asked how he got into direction, the actor said “Direction was my aim and At one point, I did not want to act in films anymore.”

Ramesh Khanna said the film that he first began directing stopped due to some issues. He said "then, I spoke to Ajith Kumar and he gave me dates and that's how I chance to direct.". The director then said when he was doing a film Ajith was doing Kadhal Kottai and it was a big-hit with Devayani and Heera. "And in my film, Ajith Kumar would have a kid at the beginning itself" said the actor and added that he did not want Ajith to do in the film but the producer pushed him to speak to the actor. “Ajith gave me dates out of pity, thinking I was also struggling like him”. He then said that in the first day of shooting his debut film, the director of his other film Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen asked him to come act for a scene and Ajith Kumar, Devayani and Heera were all ready. He said Ajith Kumar and the other actors were kind enough to wait for half day for him to act in another film and then came back to direct the movie.
