Directed by C. Prem Kumar under the Madras Enterprises banner featuring music by Govind Vasantha, this romantic drama won the hearts of audiences everywhere and went on to achieve cult status within days of its release.
With a Kannada remake starring ‘Golden Star’ Ganesh and Bhavana under the title 99 already underway, an official announcement has now been made regarding the 96 Telugu remake.

It has now been revealed that the upcoming 96 Telugu remake will be helmed by the original film’s director C. Prem Kumar with Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni reprising Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha's roles under the Sri Venkateswara Creations banner with filming set to kick-off from March.
