Director Sri Ganesh shared on his Instagram handle that his 8 Thottakkal movie is going to be remade in Malayalam. He made this announcement by sharing the first-look poster of the remake film titled Corona Papers. He appreciated the film's director Priyadharsan's mentioning Sri Ganesh's name as the writer for the film. He pointed out this and said that he wishes Tamil Cinema adapts the same style and respects the writers. In the captions, he wrote, "It is extremely generous of Director Priyadarshan Sir, to mention my name as Writer in the Poster of the Film. Usually in remakes, they don't mention the Original Writer in Posters, it makes sense since the audience in that language should see it as a Fresh Film, rather than seeing the original version & comparing with it. But Priyan Sir was particular & insisted the name of Writer should be in Posters, as he is a core technician too. A thing to learn from Malayalam Industry. I really wish Tamil Cinema gives Writers the same respect & credits too. Malayalam Cinema is always an inspiration to me."
He further wrote about the remake versions of his 8 Thottakkal, "Special Thanks to Director AL Vijay Sir, he co-ordinated this remake process & kept updating me about the Film's progress, important updates, which is his entirely his kindness & goodness. So many Malayalam Films have inspired me & Iam really happy a Story I wrote is made in the industry I respect the most & by a Legendary Director. 8 Thottakkal's remake have released in Kannada, Telugu already, here is the Malayalam version. Hindi remake works are in process too, hopefully all goes well." He then wished the team to achieve a great success in the upcoming remakes.
