Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan and Dhanush's Naane Varuvean are set for a super exciting clash at the box office and both the films will be releasing in theatres this weekend. Ponniyin Selvan features Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles, while Naane Varuvean has Dhanush playing dual roles. Both contrastingly different yet exciting films are releasing together and the film buffs are surely in for a massive treat. With both the films all set for a clash, we noticed an interesting similarity. This is not the first time a film starring Karthi and a film starring Dhanush are facing off each other at the box office.

There have been various other instances in the past where both of their films have clashed. Ponniyin Selvan - Naane Varuvean is the fourth clash between Karthi and Dhanush and there have been three occasions in the past. The three previous box office clashes include:

Following these three, Ponniyin Selvan - Naane Varuvean will be the fourth and interestingly, this is the most exciting clash ever. Ponniyin Selvan is a historical epic directed by Mani Ratnam and it features an ensemble supporting cast including the likes of Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Jayaram, Lal, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Arjun Chidambaram, Kishore, Rahman, Riyaz Khan, and others in important roles.

On the other hand, Naane Varuvean is a psychological mystery thriller helmed by Selvaraghavan who is getting back with Dhanush after a hiatus. The duo have delivered classic hit films like Kaadhal Kondain, Pudhupettai, and Mayakkam Enna in the past and the fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing what they have in store this time. Naane Varuvean will have Dhanush in dual roles, while Indhuja, Elli AvrRam, Prabhu, and Yogi Babu form the supporting cast.
