Coming out on November 29, Rajinikanth's 2.0 also starring Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson under Shankar's direction and produced by Lyca Productions with music by A. R. Rahman is one of the biggest films made in the history of Indian cinema.
At the 2.0 trailer launch, today, Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman had this to say:
“When I first watched the film, I was stunned. Generally, Shankar sir's films have fast-paced songs. I was surprised when he asked for the 'Enthira Logathu Sundariye' song. After he shot the song, I went to his studio and saw the visuals. I was blown away after seeing it. Initially, I could not understand the situation behind the song when Shankar narrated it to me and didn't accept the tunes I gave him. Only after I gave him few tunes, he finally locked on to this one.
As for his film’s score, we had to work on keyboards and then on computers. We worked in abbey studios in london. Like Mani sir, Shankar did not want songs initially. Eventually, that idea evolved and now we have four songs in the film. The songs in the film are a service I am doing for my father and God. I feel like I've worked in 8 films altogether while working on this one film. The scope of this film is as such and I am grateful to be part of this massive project. I want to thank everybody who have worked in this film."
