The counting of votes for the single-phase Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2021 have come to an end for a majority of the constituencies, with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Udhayanidhi Stalin emerging victorious in the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency. Udhayanidhi, who is serving as the Youth Wing Secretary of the DMK, has made his electoral debut on a highly-successful note securing more than 50,000 votes than his competitors among whom include Pattali Makkal Katchi's AVA Kassali and Naam Tamilar Katchi's Jayasimmaraja. The triumph for Udhayanidhi in the Chepauk constituency has come as he has succeeded three-time former DMK MLA J. Anbazhagan, who passed away last year due to COVID-19 complications.
As the vote counting for the 2021 TN Assembly elections are still ongoing, many top political leaders from across the country have extended their wishes to the DMK, including party chief MK Stalin, who is set to become the Chief Minister of the state for the first time. As DMK is gearing up to form the new government in Tamil Nadu, it will be coming back to power after a decade when MK Stalin's father, the late M. Karunanidhi was the Chief Minister.
