Vishal as the 'Sherlock Holmes' like detective Kaniyan Poongundran, found resounding success under Mysskin's direction in the 2017 movie Thupparivalan. It is a well known, fact that Vishal kick-started shooting for a sequel for Thupparivalan with Mysskin helming the directorial hat once again. The shoot started around mid-November last year and the makers did shoot a few scenes in London. The shooting was later stalled due to some creative differences between Vishal and Mysskin and it was also rumoured that Vishal himself might end up directing the film. Now it has been confirmed, Vishal Film Factory has confirmed that Thupparivalan 2 will be directed by Vishal and will have music by Ilayaraja. The first look will be out tomorrow on the 11th of March.

Model Lovely Singh will be debuting as an actress with this movie. Reports state that Lovely Singh has been given the screen name Ashya, for this film. Prasanna will be returning as Vishal's assistant Manohar, in this sequel also. There are also reports that veterans Rahman and Gautami would be joining the cast of Thupparivalan 2.
