Theatre Owner expresses interest to see Annaatthe VS Valimai box office clash during Pongal 2021
Due to the current outbreak of Coronavirus and shutdown of the Tamil film industry, all upcoming movies will have a change in release plans. On that note, yesterday (May 12), Sun Pictures made a breaking announcement stating that their next project with Superstar Rajinikanth, Annaatthe will be hitting the screens for next year's Pongal. The fans got super excited after hearing this announcement and it is going to be Rajinikanth's third consecutive Pongal release in a row after Petta (2019) and Darbar (2020). Theatre owners have also opined that it is a great decision to release the film for Pongal, as the film has a celebratory, festive mood to it.
Rakesh Gowthaman, Managing Director of Vettri Theatres, Chromepet, took to his Twitter space to share a tweet, expressing that it would be great if Thala Ajith's Valimai also releases for Pongal, clashing with Annaatthe. In that way, it would be the second round of Petta VS Viswasam and he sounded very excited to witness it.
Valimai, directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP, is an action thriller that will feature Ajith as a cop. This film which was scheduled to hit the screens for this year's Diwali will now most likely be pushed due to change of plans in the shooting. Let us wait for a few more months to see if Valimai will release for next year's Pongal. Check out Rakesh Gowthaman's tweet below:
