Tamil actress P. Padmaja has been seen in supporting roles in serials, television shows, commercials and a few films. The 23-year-old Padmaja, who has been living alone in her home in the Kaladipet area near Thiruvottriyur in Chennai after separating from her husband, Pawan, and her two-year-old son owing to a domestic dispute, was discovered dead in her home this past Sunday. It is said Padmaja and her husband used to visit their son during the weekends at a relative's place where he is being raised.

Padmaja's body was found after her homeowner noticed her house to be locked from the inside with the lights remaining switched off for two days. The house owner had sensed things not to be right and raised an alarm by informing the police, who reached the spot and broke open the lock on the door to find Padmaja dead. A preliminary inquiry reportedly set up by the police has shown that Padmaja might have chosen to end her life owing to not being able to handle the pressure of the incurring debts. It is said she had made a video call to her sister to explain her financial troubles on Saturday and regarding how she wasn't able to land any good roles in the entertainment industry. Padmaja's body was then sent to the Government Stanley Hospital in Chennai for an autopsy and a case has also been registered with an investigation already underway.
