Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu has had a glorious career having been the kingpin to making several memorable blockbusters with a few of his recent films being namely 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Theri and 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Kabali in 2016 and Asuran with Dhanush under director Vetrimaaran earlier this year. Ever since Asuran went on to taste astounding box office success, there has been a huge talk surrounding the plans for his next film under his V Creations banner. That said, the reputed producer has now officially announced on his Twitter page that his next film, tentatively titled Suriya 40, will have Suriya in the lead role and once again directed by Vetrimaaran. This is a massive announcement and comes after we had dropped the news of a possible team-up between Suriya and Vetrimaaran sometime back. Suriya 40 will also incidentally be the third occasion producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu will be bankrolling a Suriya project after the 2003 smash hit, Kaakha Kaakha, and Maayavi, in 2005. The Suriya-Vetrimaaran combo has been one many fans have been waiting for a long time to witness and is yet another biggie for the star performer who already has in his kitty the upcoming, Soorarai Pottru, and the tentatively titled, Suriya 39, under Viswasam director Siva.

Suriya 40 is also a major shift for Vetrimaaran considering he has worked with Dhanush on four occasions till date - Pollathavan, Aadukalam, Vada Chennai and Asuran - while directing 'Attakathi' Dinesh in the 2016 crime thriller, Visaranai. It now remains to be seen when Suriya 40 will begin rolling considering Vetrimaaran is also attached to make a film starring comedian Soori in the lead role under Elred Kumar's RS Infotainment banner.
