Karthi's Sulthan, which released yesterday (April 2) in theatres, amidst huge expectations, has got a very good opening at the box office and the theatre owners have expressed their happiness about it. Sulthan is said to be the next Tamil film after Master to have produced a solid opening and the exhibitors are hoping the film to continue its form for the next few days. Sulthan is a pakka theatrical film that can be enjoyed with the families and it looks like the response is really good. Though there have been a slight amount of mixed reviews among a certain section of the audience, that has not majorly affected the film's opening and it looks like the family audiences are going to enjoy it.

Interestingly, it has been officially revealed that Sulthan has turned out to be the biggest ever opening for Karthi in his career. It is indeed a new record and Karthi will definitely be a happy man. The film's producer SR Prabhu took to his official Twitter page to share his heartfelt thanks to the audience for making Sulthan open well at the box office. Prabhu tweeted, "So happy and grateful to audience for giving us a grand opening. Indeed a career best opening for #Sulthan @Karthi_Offl. It has become a breather for the whole film industry in this difficult time. All full shows makes our heart filled with joy! Thanks again! #JaiSulthan".

At the same time, SR Prabhu also had an interesting reply to all the negative reviews. Prabhu clarified that he doesn't have any problem with the mixed reviews, but felt that the usage of words (of reviewers/critics) could be better. SR Prabhu's tweet read, "Many of our films have been supported by reviewers. I am always thankful to them. Few may have other opinions about #Sulthan. I value that. But let’s keep some decency in our choice of words. After all it is CINEMA and AUDIENCE who bring food to (y)our plates! #SulthanReview". Sulthan is directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan of Remo fame and has songs composed by Vivek - Mervin.

The background score has been done by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the ace composer's work was a big strength to the film. Sulthan features Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead and it is her debut flick in Tamil cinema.
