It's official - ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli's RRR is now India's biggest blockbuster as the Jr. NTR and Ram Charan-starrer has taken a sensational opening and has surpassed the day 1 box office collections of the blockbuster director's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in 2017. Produced by DVV Entertainment on a grand scale, the period action drama has made ₹ 223 crore in gross box office collections worldwide and is declared to be India's biggest blockbuster. Released in Tamil Nadu by Lyca Productions, this latest SS Rajamouli directorial opened to full houses in the state as well, with theatres and multiplexes witnessing massive celebrations by fans. With RRR going to collect Rs. 223 cr in global box office collections on day 1, we can expect those numbers to go up in time as the reviews for the film have been exceptional. SS Rajamouli has once again delivered a thorough theatre entertainer and there is already a strong talk among fans that the Ram Charan and Jr. NTR-starrer will go past the total global gross of Baahubali 2, which stands at ₹1,810 crore. RRR has been declared to be a perfect family entertainer appealing to all ages and SS Rajamouli has conveyed the message of patriotism in an effective manner.
Set in 1920, RRR is inspired by the lives of Telugu freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju portrayed by Ram Charan and Komaram Bheem essayed by Jr. NTR, who went up against the British. Apart from the lead stars who have carried the film on their shoulders in a stunning manner, RRR also stars Alia Bhatt playing the female lead, with the supporting cast featuring actress Olivia Morris, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn, followed by Tamil actor Samuthirakani, Shriya Saran among others in pivotal roles, while Ray Stevenson and Alison Doody are the antagonists.
