R. Madhavan is currently getting geared up and awaiting the release of his latest film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which is all set to hit theatres on 1 July 2022 in multiple languages including Tamil, Hindi, English, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film is written, directed, and produced by Madhavan himself and also stars himself in the titular role of Nambi Narayanan.
A new BTS (behind the scenes) video of Rocketry: The Nambi Effect has been released. It is the making of the film and it gives a glimpse into Madhavan’s transformation into his character Nambi Narayanan. “The script had been written in a manner for which the requirement of me looking as close to the real Nambi sir as possible was mandatory. It was literally rocket science how the entire team planned the look from being a 29-year-old man to a 79-year-old guy. To maneuver the look between our schedule of 43 days was one of our greatest achievements. You will see in the film how the transition of the look is so seamless that you would not even realize how and when they look changed,” he said in the video.
Madhavan also revealed that manipulating his original teeth to look like Nambi's was the most difficult part of the shoot. He said that he had to wear braces to make his teeth look similar to his. The actor also recalled that he had to sit on a chair for 18 hours on three consecutive days for the team to get the color of his hair right.
The movie was filmed in a number of locations, including India, Georgia, Russia, Serbia, and France. The film also stars actors Suriya and Shah Rukh Khan in special cameo appearances in the Tamil and Hindi versions of the film respectively, as well as in the dubbed versions.
The upcoming biographical drama is based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, a former researcher and aerospace engineer with the ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) who was charged with espionage in 1994. The film went on to premiere at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, where it even received a standing ovation from the audience.
