The entire nation woke up to the news of the four convicted in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case - Akshay Kumar Singh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Mukesh Singh - getting executed by hanging this morning at 5:30AM at the Tihar Jail in Delhi. The incident of the 23-year-old medical student, who went on to be called Nirbhaya, being subjected to the horrible torture, shook the country eight years back with the Supreme Court rejecting the last minute plea of one of the convicts at midnight after which they were executed today morning.

Post the hanging of the four convicts, many across the nation have been praising Nirbhaya's parents and lawyers while also lauding the judiciary. In that light, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu took to his Twitter page to praise Nirbhaya's parents and her advocates for their dedicated efforts to attain justice over the past eight years since the horrific incident took place inside a moving bus. Mahesh Babu's tweet is as follows: "Long awaited but Justice done!! #NirbhayaVerdict restores our faith in the judiciary. Saluting her parents and their advocates for their continuous unflinching efforts. Respect for our judicial system still advocating for stricter laws and quicker verdicts in heinous crimes,".
