New Avatar making video | Zoe Saldana | James Cameron

Blockbuster Hollywood filmmaker James Cameron is hard at work with Avatar 2, the first of his four upcoming sequels to the worldwide blockbuster, Avatar, released in 2009, which then held on to the top spot for being the highest-grossing film in the world with $2.78 billion until being surpassed last year by Marvel Studios' superhero flick, Avengers: Endgame.

Announced for a global release on December 17, 2021, Avatar 2 is at present under production with James Cameron not long back revealing a few concept art stills featuring visuals that will be featured in the forthcoming film. Avatar 2 will see Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are reprising their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri alongside  new cast members among whom include Oscar-winning actress and Titanic star Kate Winslet, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’s Michelle Yeoh, Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel, Game of Thrones fame Oona Chaplin among others in major supporting roles.

With the shooting on Avatar 2 still ongoing at a steady pace, a making video featuring Zoe Saldana and her preparation for her role in the first film has now been released and has the actress speaking about her character, Neytiri. In the video, we see Zoe Saldana saying, "The very first time I saw Neytiri, she was in Jim's office and she was a sculpture of maybe two feet high and she was standing on this coffee table,".

She further adds, "I remember I was sitting waiting for Jim and he came over to shake my hand and said, 'Are you ready to meet yourself?'. The very first time I saw her move on screen was surreal. I just kept pinching myself because I couldn't believe that a brown girl from Queens, New York, who's Latina, would get to incarnate this woman. I just became completely enamored,". Apart from Avatar 2, the release dates for the other 3 films in the franchise too were revealed starting with Avatar 3 coming out on December 23, 2022 followed by speculations that Avatar 4 will be hitting screens on December 19, 2025, and Avatar 5 on December 17, 2027. Although nothing is set in stone as yet, there were rumors a while back stating each of the sequels were titled as Avatar : The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider, and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa.
