Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni's future had been a major subject of debate among fans since the World Cup last year and also because of his subsequent sabbatical from the sport. His last major game was for the national team in the 2019 World Cup when he played a forgettable knock in the semi-finals against New Zealand and took the side close to the finals. Since then, there were rumors that Dhoni is contemplating retirement from all forms of the game at the international level. Yesterday, the 15th of August on the day of India’s Independence, MS Dhoni announced his retirement all of a sudden which left all his fans around the world shocked and confused. Former India captain and two-time World Cup winner, Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday (August 15) via an Instagram post. "Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired (sic)", read his post of the formal announcement. Dhoni had earlier quit Test cricket in 2014 after the Melbourne Test on the tour of Australia and had handed over ODI and T20I captaincy to Virat Kohli in January 2017. The 38-year-old cricketing superstar's hardcore fans soon after started sharing their favorite memories of the Indian veteran while also reminiscing some of his most memorable knocks and career moments.
