Director Mohan Raja’s last directorial release was Velaikkaran that starred Sivakarthikeyan and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles. The film was released in December 2017 and it has been three years since the release. The fans were eagerly waiting for an update regarding his next film, but we did not get to hear anything for the past few months. Following a patient wait, the much-awaited announcement about Mohan Raja’s next directorial venture has been made and notably it is going to be a Telugu film. Yes! Mohan Raja has got the golden opportunity to direct Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi in his next film which is tentatively titled #Chiru153, marking his 153rd film.

This film will be the official Telugu remake of Mohanlal’s Lucifer, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Lucifer is one of the biggest hits in the history of Malayalam cinema and it celebrated the stardom and mass of Mohanlal. Let us wait and see how the film is treated in the Telugu remake. Chiru 153 (Lucifer remake) will mark Mohan Raja’s return to Telugu cinema after a long gap of 19 years. He made his directorial debut with the Telugu film Hanuman Junction which released in 2001. We know that Mohan Raja is known for recreating remakes with solid emotions and we have seen that on several occasions in the past.

Sharing his excitement about directing Chiranjeevi, Mohan Raja tweeted, "With the blessings of my parents and well wishers, life has always gifted me better and bigger things. And this time I’m more elated n honored to direct a mega project with the Megastar @KChiruTweets himself Need all your wishes n prayers #Chiru153". The shooting of the film is planned to begin after Sankranti 2021. Mohan Raja is currently said to be busy with the pre-production works which are happening at full swing. This remake will be bankrolled by NV Prasad's NVR Cinema, in association with Konidela Production Company. Details regarding the rest of the cast and crew are awaited.

Chiranjeevi is currently busy shooting for his 152nd film, Acharya, which is directed by Koratala Siva. The shooting of Acharya is happening at Hyderabad with a minimal crew, following the Covid-19 protocols. Kajal Aggarwal plays the female lead in this action entertainer that has music scored by Mani Sharma.
