May 20 - TN COVID Update: 743 New Cases | 3 New Deaths | Total - 13,191 Cases & 87 Deaths
It is that time of the day when the official number of the COVID-19 cases are released and May 20th has again given out high numbers. The numbers are still very high, especially in Chennai. The official numbers of #COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus cases in Tamil Nadu are out and we have it for you. The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 743 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 13,191! Of these, 557 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 8,228, with Chengalpattu having 58 cases, Tiruvallur registering 23 new cases and Kancheepuram recording 14!
There have been 3 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 87. As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 8,228 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 7,219 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone, stands at 5,345! The number of recoveries has seen a record high today, with 987 new recoveries and discharges and the total number of recovered people is now at 5,882. There have been 11,894 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 360,068! Earlier today, all 5 COVID-19 patients who were undergoing treatment in Dharmapuri recovered completely and returned home, thus making the district Corona Free and moving it into the Green Zone!
