A couple of days back it was speculated that Jyothika’s Ponmagal Vanthal produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment will skip theatrical release and arrive directly on OTT platform. This news has created a cold war between the production houses and the theatre owners in the state. When this issue is burning on one side, now the latest rumour that’s doing rounds is that Thalapathy Vijay’s Master team is planning to release their film on Amazon Prime. It is reported that Amazon Prime has offered a huge amount for the makers of Master for direct OTT release. When we contacted our sources close to the Master team, they had denied this news. Apparently, the production house is in no plans to have a direct OTT release.
Though this means Vijay fans have to wait a month or two to watch Master, they can still enjoy the frantic atmosphere while watching a film among 100s of movie buffs. It is going to be a huge storm after the long calm. Master which was supposed to release on April 9th has been postponed due to the lockdown. We are not sure if the movie will release immediately after the lockdown is released. So right now, nobody can predict when the film will hit the screens. The release may be put on hold until the overseas markets are open for release since Vijay has a massive market even outside India. So, there is so much on stake. Stay tuned!
