Ace director Mani Ratnam is right now busy with the pre-production works of his next, Ponniyin Selvan, the historical epic, that is to be produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies. This mega budgeted venture will feature Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles, while actors like Parthiban, Jayaram, Elango Kumaravel will play supporting characters. The latest update is that the film's shooting is all set to begin from December 12th at Thailand.

According to our sources, the team of Ponniyin Selvan will apparently go to Thailand in the first week of December to set things up there. This schedule is said to be planned for 40 days. This is surely an update that will keep the fans excited since this has been a highly anticipated film in the history of Tamil cinema. The film has music by A.R.Rahman and lyrics by Vairamuthu and this combination will produce 12 songs in the film.

Ace lensman Ravi Varman will be joining hands with Mani Ratnam once again after Kaatru Veliyidai for this film. Mani Ratnam, Siva Ananth and actor Elango Kumaravel have penned the film's screenplay and it is going to be very interesting to see how the writers have adapted the novel into a film. If things go as per plan, we can expect the film to hit the screens in 2021.
