Malayankunju is an upcoming Malayalam survival thriller film written by Mahesh Narayanan and directed by Sajimon Prabhakar. Produced by Fazil under the banner of Fahadh Faasil & Friends, the film stars his son Fahadh Faasil as well as Rajisha Vijayan in the lead roles along with Indrans, Jaffar Idukki, and Deepak Parambol in supporting roles. Apart from writing the script for Malayankunju, Mahesh Narayanan has also handled its cinematography with Arju Benn as its editor and renowned music director A. R. Rahman as the music composer which marks his return to Malayalam cinema after three long decades.
Recently, the team released some exclusive behind the scenes footage from the film. This gives us a look into how the movie was made, filmed, and executed. The 2 minutes 47 seconds long video dwells deep into Fahadh Faasil's acting prowess and his process of getting into the role and character as well as the treacherous and vigorous surroundings he had to be in to shoot his scenes. It also features Mahesh Narayanan and Sajimon Prabhakar guiding everyone under them, how production design was done, and the highly detailed building of the set where the film was going to be shot which demanded the building of caves and rocks and boulders of different sizes.
As the crux of the film is based on a real landslide that took place in the high ranges of Kerala, which resulted in many people losing their lives, home, and kin, the design team also had to make realistic versions of animals like chickens and goats that were smashed and killed by the landslide as well as numerous bikes and cars that were also destroyed during that time.
