Mahaveeryar is an upcoming Malayalam fantasy comedy courtroom drama film written and directed by Abrid Shine. Produced by Nivin Pauly under the banner of Pauly Jr. Pictures and Indian Movie Makers, the film is based on a short story written by the writer M. Mukundan. Starring Nivin Pauly, Asif Ali, Shanvi Srivastava, Lal, and Siddique in lead roles, the film revolves around time travel, law books, and legal proceedings. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 21 July 2022.
The makers of the film just recently dropped the official trailer of the film and it looks mystical and also hysterical. The trailer features Nivin Pauly in a completely new look for the character of a saint named Swami Apoornananthan. The trailer, which runs 3 seconds shy of 2 and a half minutes, focuses on court proceedings where it looks like a case is being fought against the godman who is trying to prove his case by giving evidence of God's existence. Intertwined with emotional and funny moments, it also hints at time travel and fantasy at the same time. We also get to see some mesmerizing visuals of a bygone era of kings.
Earlier, the makers of the film have also released the song titled 'Radhe Radhe' which managed to click with the audience in a grand fashion. Vidyadharan Master and Jeevan Padmakumar have lent their voices to the 3 minutes 5 second long song to the lyrics penned by B. K. Harinarayanan. The soundtrack of Mahaveeryar is composed by Ishaan Chhabra and lyrics by B K Harinarayanan and Assanu Anna Augustine.
Mahaveeryar marks the third collaboration between director Abrid Shine and Nivin Pauly after having previously worked together on the films 1983 and Action Hero Biju. Actor Shanvi Srivastava will be making her acting debut in Malayalam with this film.
