The entire K-town is abuzz about the direct OTT release of Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru which was considered to release only in theatres after the pandemic. However, this unexpected situation has made a lot of producers and filmmakers to explore the possibilities of releasing the film on OTT platform. Having said that, a section of media had reported that Aishwarya Rajesh - Vijay Sethupathi starrer Ka Pae Ranasingam and Santhanam’s Dikkiloona will have a direct OTT release on Zee 5 streaming platform. Notably, both the films are produced by KJR Studios and hence there were a lot of speculations going around.

To clear the air, KJR Studios made an important clarification stating that they are in talks with all OTT streaming platforms (like Netflix, Prime Video, Zee 5, Hotstar, etc) and haven’t finalized the deal yet. It can be noted that KJR Studios denied the news about the release on Zee 5 platform, but did not disagree about the direct OTT release plan. “UNTRUE. We’re in talks with all major OTT players but we haven’t zeroed in yet. Please await official confirmation on our films directly from us! 🙏🏽 #KaPaeRanasingam #Dikkiloona”, tweeted KJR Studios.

Going by this update, it looks like Ka Pae Ranasingam and Dikkiloona are indeed going to be released on one of the OTT platforms soon. This move might have been taken due to the uncertainty in the reopening of theatres. Even if theatres reopen, one does not know how many audience would be ready to get back to theatres.

Talking about Ka Pae Ranasingam, this film features Aishwarya Rajesh as the main protagonist, while Vijay Sethupathi will be seen in an important role. The teaser of the film which released a few weeks before created a good buzz on social media. The contemporary political references in the trailer garnered good attention among the fans. This film is directed by debutant P Virumandi and has music scored by Ghibran.

On the other hand, Dikkiloona is Santhanam’s next outing and it will feature him in three different roles. The trailer of the film was released recently and it opened to a good reception. The fans enjoyed Santhanam’s one line counters. Dikkiloona has an interesting sci-fi, time travel element which is expected to be the USP of the film. Dikkiloona will mark the silver screen debut of former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh who is touted to play a negative character. Dikkiloona is directed by debutant Karthik Yogi.
