Gautham Karthik has been signing new films of late and currently has in his lineup Pathu Thala with STR and Priya Bhavani Shankar, Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam director Ponram’s former associate Arun Chandhiran debut Chella Pillai, including untitled ventures with filmmakers Ezhil and Badri Venkatesh. The popular actor has now announced his next film with director Nanda Periyasamy, known notably for Oru Kalluriyin Kathai, Maathi Yosi and Vanna Jigina. Nanda, who is also serving as a writer on the upcoming Taapsee Pannu starrer Rashmi Rocket in Hindi, has also roped in director-actor and Bigg Boss 3 star Cheran to act alongside Gautham Karthik in the yet-to-be-titled film, which is being produced by P. Ranganathan of Sri Vaari Films, who earlier bankrolled Yogi Babu’s Dharma Prabhu. 

The Gautham Karthik-Cheran venture is described to be a family entertainer, with producer Ranganthan informing via a press release that it will be on the lines of Viswasam, Kadaikutty Singam, Namma Veettu Pillai, and other films in the genre. The film will also see legendary Telugu actor Dr. Rajasekhar's daughter Shivathmika Rajashekar playing the female lead, who will be making her Tamil cinema debut, with the supporting cast also featuring names like Saravanan, Vijay TV fame Jacqueline, Daniel Balaji, Kizhakku Cheemaiyile fame Vignesh, Singam Puli, Kumki Jommalloori, lyricist Snegan, Namo Narayanan, Soundarajan, Mounicka, Maina, Paruthiveeran fame Sujatha, Priyanka, Nakkalite Dhanam among others. Siddhu Kumar is composing the music, with cinematography by Borra Bharani and lyrics by Sneghan. 

Speaking about the film, producer P. Ranganathan says, "We at Sri Vaari Films are ritually inclined to produce family entertainers. Hailing from a joint family background, I have personally felt the urge to entertain family audiences in theatres. Besides being a distributor, I have always been conscious and aware of the audience pulse, and films based on family elements have been their favourite choice.  This film will have the essence of emotions, joy, separation, and reunion encapsulated as Nanda Periyasamy has crafted a script that has beautiful value for these aspects. The film will be more on the lines of beautiful family entertainers like Viswasam, Kadaikutty Singam, Namma Veettu Pillai, and many more movies of this genre. Sri Vaari Films will indeed continue to make such movies that cater to the tastes of family audiences. When Nandha Periyasamy narrated the script, I could envisage that a charming cool actor like Navarasa Nayagan Karthik in Varusham 16 would befittingly suit the protagonist’s role. Apparently, we approached Gautham Karthik, and he was very much excited to be a part of a family-centric film. While looking for the female lead, whose characterization is a Local TV channel anchor, we felt that Shivathmika Rajashekar will do perfect justice for her appealing girl-to-next door looks and got her on board.
