The film which had its world television premiere on Vijay TV on April 4, released on the Netflix streaming platform yesterday (April 5) for public viewing. The film has got an outstanding reception from the viewers and it looks like Mandela will garner more attention in the coming days. Mandela was raved by the critics for Yogi Babu's natural performance, debut director Madonne Ashwin's fantastic writing, and the freshness in the screenplay and packaging of the film. It was not just entertaining, but was also knowledgeable and had some really hard-hitting dialogues about the society, politics, caste, and more.

Mandela is produced by Sashikanth under the banner of Y Not Studios in association with Balaji Mohan's (Maari and Kaadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi fame) Open Window Productions and Reliance Entertainment. The film features Yogi Babu in the titular role, while Sheela Rajkumar, Sangili Murugan, GM Sundar, Kanna Ravi, and others play supporting characters. Talking about Gautham Vasudev Menon's next project, he will be teaming up with Silambarasan TR for a new film titled Nadhigalilae Neeraadum Sooriyan. Produced by Isari K Ganesh under the banner of Vels Film International, the film will have music scored by A.R.Rahman. Gautham Menon also has films like Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha and Dhruva Natchathiram which are in final stages of production. The ace filmmaker is also in plans to shoot the sequel of his web series, Queen that will have Ramya Krishnan playing the lead.
