Spain has recorded 743 deaths today (April 7) due to the coronavirus and is the first time in five days those numbers have seen an increase. To date, the number of people who have succumbed to their deaths in Spain because of COVID-19 are 13,897 while 1,40,511 have tested positive and 43,208 have managed a recovery from the disease.
Globally, the number of people diagnosed with the coronavirus has exceeded 1.3 million with the death toll standing at more than 76,000 people while nearly 292,000 have recovered. The number of coronavirus-affected people in China has come down considerably since March, but the death toll has shot up in the United States. In Japan, an emergency has been declared after the nation saw a spike in the number of coronavirus cases with Singapore going into a gradual partial lockdown and other nations extending the stay-at-home order to curtail the spread of the dreaded disease.
In Britian, Prime Minister Boris Johnson was earlier today shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the St. Thomas Hospital in London where he's undergoing treatment after his COVID-19 symptoms worsened yesterday. The UK government will in the interim be led by Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab owing to PM Boris Johnson's serious health condition.
