Coronavirus lockdown | TN govt issues order for theatres, gyms to reopen for maintenance
Tamil Nadu government has issued an order allowing the reopening of all cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls, beaches, tourist places, zoological parks, museums and similar places of public gathering for maintenance purposes. The order further states that sports complexes and stadia are permitted to reopen, but with no spectators in attendance.
The reopening has been allowed only for maintenance purposes and people will not be allowed to enter the premises for the time being. The TN government order will bring some happiness to theatre owners in the state, but does not state when they will open for business, which can be expected to take place in a phased manner in the upcoming relaxations of the lockdown exit.
Theatre owners will be looking forward to an authorization from the government to allow them to resume their business by opening their premises for the public and will want to be prepared once the order is issued. Employees who will be attending to maintenance work are expected to adhere to the social distancing norms including following protocols recommended by the government to protect themselves from the spread of the novel coronavirus.
