Corona crisis | Education department issues orders to teachers to return to schools before June 8
The School Education Department - Tamil Nadu has issued orders to teachers in the state to return to the districts where they had been previously working before June 8. It is being learnt that no decision has been taken as yet regarding the reopening of the schools in the state. Headmasters/principals have been instructed to duly report about the attendance of the teachers.
Minister of Higher Education K. A. Sengottaiyan, on Wednesday, said that, a decision will be taken regarding the reopening of the schools after the publication of the SSLC exam results. Only after consultation with experts in the education domain and also parents, a decision will be taken with regard to the reopening of the schools. Meanwhile, Madurai branch of the Madras High Court has dismissed a petition filed for the postponement of the SSLC examinations in the state. Judges are of the impression that frequent postponement of the examinations will add up to the stress and tension among students.
Schools across Tamil Nadu were ordered to be closed due to the lockdown imposed across the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. 10th and 12th standard students have been preparing for their board exams through online coaching and via the Kalvi channel.
