SHOCKING: Ace director KV Anand is no more! Tamil film industry in mourning!
Ace cinematographer turned filmmaker, KV Anand breathed his last during the early hours of Friday, April 30. According to the reports, KV Anand died due to a massive heart attack, following Covid 19 complications. Reports state that he was Covid positive and suffered a heart attack due to Covid complications. This news has come as a big shocker for the Tamil film industry and the fans have been completely taken aback. Anand was 54 years old. KV Anand reportedly had a chest pain during the midnight hours and he immediately rushed to a private hospital in Chennai where his body failed to respond to medical treatments. He was declared dead at 3 AM in the morning.
KV Anand started his career as a photo journalist and worked as a still photographer in a popular media house in Tamil Nadu. Later, he assisted legendary cinematographer PC Sreeram after which he made his debut as a cinematographer. KV Anand's first film as a cinematographer was the Malayalam film, Thenmavin Kombath (directed by Priyadarshan) and Anand received the National Award for Best Cinematography for his work in the film. KV Anand was one among the very few cinematographers to have won a National Award in a debut film and there was no lookback since then. His first film as a cinematographer in Tamil cinema was Kathir's Kadhal Desam that starred Vineeth, Abbas, and Tabu in the lead roles. Some of the other notable works from KV Anand as a cinematographer include Nerukku Ner, Mudhalvan, Virumbugiren, Boys, Chellame, and Sivaji: The Boss.
KV Anand made his directorial debut in 2005 with the Srikanth - Prithviraj starrer Kana Kandaen. Later, he made Ayan with Suriya and the film turned out to be a phenomenal success at the box office. Ayan, even today, stands to be one of the best films in Suriya's career and there is a huge fan following for the movie. Following Ayan, KV Anand directed Ko with Jiiva, Maattrraan with Suriya, Anegan with Dhanush, and Kavan with Vijay Sethupathi.
KV Anand's last directorial venture was Kaappaan, which featured Suriya in the lead role. Produced by Lyca Productions, Kaappaan featured Mohanlal, Arya, Sayyeshaa, Samuthirakani in supporting roles. KV Anand was said to be working on the script of his next directorial venture with a leading star hero, but unfortunately, things have come to an end.
