Popular Hindi film screenwriters Kanika Dhillon and Himanshu Sharma announced on Monday on Instagram that they have gotten married. Sharing pictures of their wedding, which was attended by only family members, Kanika wrote, "Here is to #2021. #newbeginnings #himanshusharma." In the pictures, Kanika is seen in a magenta bridal dress, while Himanshu has complimented his yellow jacket with an off-white kurta. Actress Taapsee Pannu, who will next be seen in Haseen Dillruba, which has a screenplay written by Kanika, extended her hearty wishes to the newly-married couple in the comments section. Celebrities namely actress Lakshmi Manchu, actor Gajraj Rao, TV actress Neelu Kohli, choreographer Pony Verma, writer Sucharita Tyagi and many others also congratulated the couple. 

Kanika and Himanshu announced their engagement in December last year, while also posting pictures from the ceremony. They had dated for nearly a year before they got engaged. Speaking about his engagement to Kanika in an interview with Pinkvilla, Himanshu said, "After being in a relationship for a while now.. we are happy to announce we are engaged and getting married soon. Looking forward to a happy and great life ahead." While Kanika divorced director Prakash Kovelamudi last year, Himanshu was previously in a relationship with actress Swara Bhasker. Both Kanika and Himanshu have established themselves to be highly sought-after names in Bollywood as they have written screenplays for box office blockbusters. 

Starting off her career in Bollywood as an assistant director in the Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone blockbuster Om Shanti Om in 2007, Kanika Dhillon became a script supervisor on the 2009 film Billu, starring the late Irrfan Khan. She then served as an additional screenwriter on Always Kabhi Kabhi in 2011, before landing the biggie, Ra.One, in 2011. Kanika then wrote the screenplay for the Arya-Anushka Shetty starrer Size Zero, which came out in Tamil under the title Inji Iduppazhagi. Her next story, screenplay and dialogue writing credits were in films namely Manmarziyaan, Kedarnath, Judgementall Hai Kya and Netflix's Guilty starring Kiara Advani. 

As for Himanshu Sharma, he began his career as a screenwriter in 2007 in director Aanand L. Rai's Strangers. Since then, he has collaborated with the hit filmmaker on his four films that include Tanu Weds Manu and its sequel Tanu Weds Manu: Returns, the pan-Indian blockbuster Raanjhanaa and Shah Rukh Khan's Zero. He has also written the screenplay for Aanand L. Rai's upcoming film, Atrangi Re, which includes Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, National Award-winning actor Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles, with music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman.
