Asin became a big name in Tamil cinema after her debut in 2004 opposite Jayam Ravi in M. Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi. She soon went on to deliver a commendable performance in Ullam Ketkumae and cemented her name as the darling of the classes and the masses in Suriya's Ghajini. Soon after, she starred opposite 'Chiyaan' Vikram in Majaa, including playing the female lead in notable Tamil blockbusters like 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Sivakasi and Pokkiri, 'Thala' Ajith's Varalaru and Kamal Haasan's Dasavathaaram. 

After entering Bollywood on a high note opposite Aamir Khan in Ghajini in 2008, Asin starred in a number of Hindi films among which include London Dreams, Ready, Housefull 2, Bol Bachchan and Khiladi 786. Although her last film was the Abhishek Bachchan starrer All Is Well in 2015, the popular actress was seen one last time in Tamil cinema opposite 'Thalapathy' Vijay in the smash box office hit, Kaavalan. 

Asin entered wedlock in January 2016 with Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma in a Christian wedding that was followed by a Hindu ceremony. Soon after, she quit acting and cinema and had since given birth to their first child, a daughter named Arin, who was born on October 24, 2017. The actress has now taken to her Instagram page to share birthday bash celebration pictures of Arin, while also shedding light behind the choice of her daughter’s name. She wrote in her late post, "She’s 3 now- Arin Rayn (Her name - both first name and surname, a combination of Rahul and my first names. ‘Rayn’ is pronounced ‘Ra’-‘in’ but spelt with a twist. A short, simple name, gender neutral, secular, free of religion, caste and patriarchy.) Thank you to each and everyone of you who sent us love, wishes and blessings!
